Today on 6 May the Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates Ara Zohrabyan received  first, second, third and fourth years’ students of the YSU Faculty of Law. Ara Zohrabyan  greeted  the students  and represented them the legislation on advocacy, measures of activities, the conditions on entrance and education in the School of Advocates. According to his speech the role of advocate have fundamental changes. “In the past the role of advocate had a negative image among society. Now we must raise the role and the public weight of the advocate” pointed the Chairman of  the Chamber  and  urged the lawyers  to  increase their stock of knowledge.  Ara Zohrabyan  also spoke about   the negative consequences  of corruption  and urged the  student to except that from their professional activity which seems  easy and attractive but in the end the result is devastating.

Many issues were discussed with students about the School of Advocates, attorneys and judges , about the latest decisions  established by  the RA Constitutional Court.In regard to the question the opinion the Chamber of Advocates has on the  latest decisions of the RA Constitutional Court, the chairman of the Chamber  Ara Zohrabyan mentioned: “On the basis of the content, the person who has not bachelor legal background and obtained the diploma on Masters degree, will yield to the person with bachelor degree in law with his/her knowledge and there is a real concern on that regard but in regard to the law, the student does not have any guilt when the state grants such an opportunity to study Master’s degree in law to the person who has not legal background and obtains Masters degree in law. I share the approach of the Constitutional Court in this respect. In the other way,  a paradoxical condition was created, a person could obtain PhD in law after Master’s degree, but in fact he was prohibited by law to enter to the School of Advocates. After the meeting Ara Zohrabyan and the students had a walk in the new building of the Chamber, got acquainted with the functions  of the School of Advocates and the Office of Public Defender. Simon Babayan  also answered to the questions of the students.
